'Raffique' is run by Julie Hurst from her studio in Wymondham, Norfolk .

The business came into being a few years ago when, after several years working as a veterinary nurse, the arrival of Julie's first child made her seek an occupation with child-friendly hours.

Julie had read a magazine article about a raffia hat-making business in Dorset. After attending one of their courses and putting in a great deal of practice, she produced her first marketable product and 'Raffique' was born!  She subsequently bought the Dorset business and began to make hats and run hat-making classes in Norfolk .

All of her raffia hats and bags are handmade to customers' individual requirements regarding size, style, colour and trim, all of which she will happily advise on.  The hats are packable and crushable, making them ideal for holidays, weddings and picnics in the park. 

In addition to making raffia hats, running classes and giving talks, Julie also produces a range of fleece hats and scarves in many designs and colours - ideal for all ages, and great for skiing! 

She also stocks millinery equipment including hat blocks, raffia and books on the craft of hat making.
