The Guild

The Guild was founded in 1952 as the Norfolk Rural Craftsmen's Guild. The Guild was originally responsible for advising and promoting the business interests of full-time traditional craftsmen resident in Norfolk, such as blacksmiths, thatchers, weavers and potters, while encouraging the maintenance of high standards of craftsmanship.  In 1995 the Guild was completely restructured, changing its name to the Norfolk Craftsmen's Guild and finally in 2006 it was brought up to date as the Norfolk Craft Guild.

The aims of the Guild are to promote a well informed interest in Art and Crafts, maintain a high standard of craftsmanship, to keep members informed of matters of interest by way of a periodic newsletter and to encourage the sale and exhibition of members products. Two events are held annually at the historic National Trust property of Blickling Hall, Aylsham, Norfolk. Members are encouraged to demonstrate their craft at these events.

Membership is open to all craftsmen resident in Norfolk and Suffolk, whose work is acceptable to a majority of the Committee.

The AGM is held in May and all members are invited.

The Guild also meets informally twice a year to do nothing more than enjoy each other's company and have a good time!
